Zelenskyy meets US envoy, seeks trilateral summit | NHK WORLD-JAPAN News - NHKニュース
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held talks with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and stressed his desire for a trilateral summit with the leaders of the US and Russia.
Zelenskyy traveled to Norway on Tuesday, where he met with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Stoere, Witkoff and Finland's President Alexander Stubb.
Stoere told reporters after the talks that they discussed issues including Ukraine's security and territory.
He revealed that Witkoff will fly to St. Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city, as early as Wednesday and meet the Russian leadership.
Zelenskyy expressed hope that the US would convey Ukraine's ideas for achieving peace to Russia.
He said "one of the most important ideas" is to aim for a trilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to address issues that only the leaders can resolve.
Zelenskyy also commented on his earlier claim that warnings about Russian missile launches were not being shared. He said intelligence sharing is now working and that they are thankful to the American side.
The question now is how Russia will respond to Ukraine's proposals after Witkoff's visit.
