A 30-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a private bus allegedly travelling at excessive speed at Kuzhikkattumoola near Kakkanad on Wednesday.
The deceased is Akshara S., a resident of Kusumagiri, Kakkanad, and a native of Tholur in Thrissur. The Infopark police have arrested Binoy, the bus driver, on the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The accident took place on Kakkanad-Infopark Road at Kuzhikkattumoola around 8.20 a.m. when Akshara was walking home from a gym. The bus, which came from the opposite direction, hit her and ran over her.
Though she was rushed to a nearby private hospital, she succumbed to her injuries around 11 a.m., according to the first information report.
