Detroit Red Wings star Dylan Larkin, frustrated with the lack of progress on his trade request, is taking the Connor Hellebuyck playbook.

Larkin reported to training camp while waiting for the Red Wings to pull off a deal. Hellebuyck didn't show up and was suspended by the Winnipeg Jets.

The award-winning goalie and fellow U.S. Olympian was the first of the two to be traded, heading to the New Jersey Devils for a big haul. Now Larkin says he won't play.

"All I can say is that Dylan’s had enough of the situation," Larkin's agent, Pat Brisson, told the Detroit Free Press, part of the USA TODAY Network, on Thursday.

The "disappointed" Red Wings have suspended Larkin without pay, interim general manager Shawn Horcoff said.

Larkin has an $8.7 million cap hit and makes $8 million this season. He will forfeit more than $41,000 a day while he is suspended, according to reports.

Larkin, who has a no-trade clause, originally proposed the top three teams on the list below. He's up to 10 teams now. Here's the full list.

Horcoff said he's looking for players who can help the team right away while also looking at the "long-term success of the organization." He said he's open to all kinds of deals.

He told reporters on Thursday that he has talked to teams on Larkin's list and has taken calls from other interested teams. He said his phone rang a lot on Thursday.

"We just continue to try to find solutions that fit for both sides," he said, adding he's willing to wait as long as it takes to get the right deal.

He said at training camp that he wasn't ready to answer that question.

The team called up center Sheldon Dries from the Grand Rapids (Michigan) Griffins under emergency conditions. The 32-year-old had eight points in four games this season with the AHL team and no points in 11 games this season and last with Detroit.

Horcoff said it's status quo on the restricted free agent defenseman. "Still trying to get something done," he said. "I'd like to sign him."
