KIEV, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets on Friday called for more humanitarian missions between Ukraine and Russia following the operation in Oleshky.

"It is essential that such efforts become regular, bringing more calm along the frontline and encouraging further de-escalation steps," Lubinets, who led the Ukrainian delegation during the operation in Oleshky, wrote in a post on X.

According to him, it was the first time since 2022 that a ceasefire had been established across such a large section of the front line and had lasted this long.

Lubinets said the work was carried out in accordance with the agreements reached with Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova.

He also thanked U.S. First Lady Melania Trump for her mediation and coordination efforts.

Russia and Ukraine on Thursday dispatched representatives on humanitarian missions to Oleshky, a frontline town in Ukraine's Kherson region, to deliver aid to residents and help civilians leave safely amid a worsening humanitarian situation.

The humanitarian mission followed an agreement on a temporary ceasefire in the area to facilitate aid deliveries and civilian evacuations. The ceasefire is scheduled to remain in effect until 10:59 p.m. Moscow time (1959 GMT) on Nov. 1, according to the Russian side. ■
