Two women were killed and a man was injured after a 42-year-old man, Siddique, attacked his in-laws’ family with a knife following a family dispute in Meerpet on Wednesday. The injured man, Yusuf, is undergoing treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Niranjan Bee, the accused’s mother-in-law, and Reshma, the wife of his brother-in-law, Yusuf. Siddique is absconding and police have launched a search operation to trace him.
Police suspect that disputes between Siddique and his wife over family matters could have triggered the attack. The family had reportedly approached the police station earlier over disputes between the couple. Investigators are examining whether the earlier complaints and concerns raised by the family about their safety were followed by the attack.
