Trump blames 'Dumocrats' for $2.5 trillion stock market crash after losing midterm elections - The News International
US President Donald Trump has blamed Democratic voters for a sharp stock market decline following the Republican party's defeat in Tuesday's midterm elections.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticised voters after Democrats won control of the House and Senate, as trillions of dollars were wiped from global markets on Thursday.
The Nasdaq fell approximately 5.5 percent, losing around $2.5 trillion in market value, while the Dow Jones and S&P 500 also recorded significant losses.
The sell-off came amid concerns about possible restrictions on the artificial intelligence industry under a Democratic-controlled Congress.
Trump said the stock market had "suffered one of the Worst Days in History based on the results of the Election."
"Such a sad thing to watch! It took so much work to get us to a level that no one has ever seen before, and then this. Your 401(k)s have, therefore, dropped. Remember, it wasn't Republicans, it was Dumocrats," he wrote on Truth Social.
The president also promised that the US would become "BIGGER AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE."
Trump also argued that Republicans lost because he "WASN'T ON THE BALLOT."
"IF I WERE, WE WOULD HAVE WON IN A LANDSLIDE!" he added.
