Three NASA astronauts exercised their right to vote in the U.S. midterm elections from the International Space Station (ISS) last Tuesday, sending their ballots electronically from space back to Earth.

NASA astronaut Anil Menon posted a video on the X platform last Tuesday demonstrating the voting process from the International Space Station, revealing that his private bedroom served as his personal voting booth.

Menon explained that he used a computer inside his quarters to fill out an electronic ballot form, which he then sent to Harris County in Texas to cast his vote.

In addition to Menon, two other astronauts aboard the ISS, Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, also voted in the midterm elections from space.

Harris County is home to the Johnson Space Center and NASA's mission control center, playing a key role in supporting the United States' space missions.

Voting from space is not new for U.S. astronauts; they have been able to vote electronically while on missions outside Earth since 1997, allowing them to send ballots back to relevant authorities even when they cannot return to vote in person on election day.
