Things are getting ugly at Oklahoma, and Sooners fans know who they blame - USA Today
Oklahoma football's disappointing season continues to go from bad to worse, as it trails South Carolina 28-10 at halftime after totaling an abysmal 71 yards of offense.
It seems the fanbase has had enough, too.
The Sooners crowd broke out in loud chants calling for second-year offensive coordinator to be fired late in the second quarter. The "Fire Ben Arbuckle" chants came after John Mateer was sacked for a 4-yard loss on 3rd-and-10 before kicker Tate Sandell made a 52-yard field goal.
Oklahoma's offense has been among the worst in Power Four this season. The Sooners entered Week 9 ranked No. 115 of 138 teams nationally in total offense, averaging 333.7 yards per game. Only five teams in Power Four rank lower than the Sooners in total offense, four of which are in the Big Ten.
Oklahoma entered the season ranked No. 10 in the US LBM Coaches Poll but are in danger of falling to 4-4 on the season with a loss to South Carolina. It has only scored 20 or more points in three games this season, one of which came in the season opener against UTEP.
OU's only touchdown in the first half came on an interception returned by linebacker Kip Lewis.
The Sooners' usually elite defense was exposed in the first half against the Gamecocks, too. South Carolina scored 28 points alone in the first half, which is already the second-most points Oklahoma has allowed in any game this season.
Things aren't looking good in Norman right now under fifth-year coach Brent Venables, who signed a contract extension before the season.
