On 1 November 2026 at 19:34 GMT+7, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen attended the premiere of the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations’ Khon performance, "Ramayana: Sida," at the Main Auditorium of the Thailand Cultural Centre in Huai Khwang District, Bangkok. Present to welcome Them were Air Chief Marshal Sathitpong Sukwimon, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations under Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, Chair of the Khon Executive Committee; Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture; Ms. Chotika Akkarajisophakul, Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion; and the Foundation's committee members.
During the event, His Majesty granted the royal opportunity for Master Phurith Tantakul (performing as the Crown Prince) to present a program booklet and souvenir to the King, and for Master Peerawat Sukhot (performing as the character Lop) to present a program booklet and souvenir to Her Majesty the Queen. They also watched a royal tribute dance performance and viewed a behind-the-scenes video of the "Ramayana: Sida" production. This presentation was held to honor the royal benevolence and continue the royal initiative of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother on the occasion of the Queen’s 4th cycle birthday anniversary. Her Majesty emphasized the importance of "preserving, maintaining, and extending" to uphold the nation’s high arts beautifully from generation to generation. It is fortunate for the Thai people and Thailand that His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen promote and support the Khon performance attentively in every aspect, thus preserving this valuable national performing art for the long term.
Next, They watched the Khon performance "Ramayana: Sida," which follows the royal composition by King Rama I (King Phutthayotfa Chulalok the Great). The story covers Sida’s birth, her marriage to Rama, her journey following Rama into the forest, her abduction by Tosakanth to Lanka, and her trial by fire to prove her purity and loyalty. The production featured elaborate and stunning set designs, including the "Royal Wedding Scene of Rama and Sida," inspired by murals inside Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram, expressing the beauty of Thai art through meticulous and grand design details; the "Sida’s Trial by Fire" scene reflecting her purity and devotion; the heavenly and Mount Sumeru scenes; the Hanuman holding the heart box scene; and the Tosakanth abducting Sida scene. All were created to vividly portray the story from the royal composition, delivering a complete and beautiful stage presentation.
At the end of the performance, His Majesty graciously commanded Air Vice Marshal Phakdi Saeng-Chuto, Assistant Royal Secretary, to present royal bouquets to the National Artists, representatives of the production team, and representatives of the performers in sequence.
