Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that his government had protected public land and assets worth nearly ₹1.5 lakh crore in the three years since assuming office, by pursuing legal battles and presenting strong arguments before courts.

The Supreme Court's latest verdict declaring that land parcels — worth nearly ₹50,000 crore — in Miyapur belonged to the Telangana government reflected the government’s ongoing efforts to protect lands.

At a press conference held in New Delhi on Friday (October 30, 2026), he alleged that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao tried to grab valuable Miyapur land through his relatives and others, including Damodar Rao and Goldstone Prasad. But the government had put up a strong legal fight to protect the properties and had directed officials to take appropriate steps to secure the land following the favourable verdict.

Mr. Reddy said the government would discuss the future course of action, including the proposed monetisation of the properties, in the Cabinet. The proceeds from the sale of recovered lands would be channelled into irrigation projects, education, healthcare and other priority sectors. A Cabinet subcommittee constituted for resource mobilisation would examine the proposal

The Chief Minister alleged that KCR, his family members and several Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders had attempted to appropriate valuable government lands in Hyderabad and other parts of the State. Mr. Reddy said he had fought against such alleged encroachments as an MLA, MP and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president.

Citing other cases, he said the government had thwarted an alleged attempt by BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao to acquire IMG Bharata lands in collusion with members of the Bhalerao family. It had also successfully defended the government’s claim over the Kancha Gachibowli and Mamidipalli lands against attempts by BRS leaders to take them over, he claimed.

The government had also fought in the Supreme Court to protect forest land at Gurramguda allegedly targeted by associates of KTR. The apex court had upheld the position that the land was forest land, he said.

Similarly, the government had protected 143 acres at Manchirevula, which the Chief Minister alleged KTR had attempted to acquire in association with Rayalaseema builders.

In Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, 400 acres of forest land allegedly handed over as a reward to a defected Congress MLA in 2018, was protected through a legal battle in the Supreme Court, he said. The government had taken steps to prevent alleged land encroachments by BRS leaders in Bhadradri Kothagudem district as well.

Mr. Reddy also accused BRS leaders of obstructing surveys of disputed lands allegedly occupied by former Minister T. Harish Rao’s father-in-law, Hanumantha Rao. He said the latter had approached the court and obtained a stay, preventing officials from conducting the surveys.

He questioned the silence of BRS leaders after the Assembly had held detailed discussions on alleged land encroachments and the government ordered investigations. Despite repeatedly accusing the government of wrongdoing, they had refrained from responding after the inquiry process began, he alleged.

He said KCR and Mr. Harish Rao, who had filed cases over Padmalaya Studios and Lanco lands during the undivided Andhra Pradesh, had failed to reclaim those properties after coming to power in Telangana as they have compromised.

Regarding the disputed land in the Erravelli villages, he said the government would complete the surveys, identify the extent of encroachments, and take steps to establish a colony named after Telangana martyr Srikanthachary.
