North West businessman Suliman Carrim is expected to appear before the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Friday for vehicle theft and smuggling allegations.

Controversial North West businessman Suliman Carrim is back in the Musina Magistrate’s Court for another bail hearing.

He faces allegations of fraud, attempted theft and money laundering linked to an alleged cross-border vehicle smuggling operation.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) alleged Carrim colluded with employees to move bank-financed vehicles across the border using fraudulent documents.

NPA Limpopo regional spokesperson Mashudu Malabi said the charges stem from a July 22, 2026 incident in which police intercepted two vehicles at the Beitbridge border post in Musina.

The vehicles were allegedly destined for Malawi after being transported from Mahikeng in the North West.

Carrim’s latest court appearance follows a separate bail decision by the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court, which granted him R100,000 bail on Wednesday.

The court found no evidence that he would breach his bail conditions if released, despite his repeated failures to appear before the Madlanga Commission.

He was ordered to contact the inquiry directly within 48 hours.
