South Central Railway (SCR) recorded its highest-ever single-day ticket checking revenue of ₹1.18 crore during a special intensive drive conducted across the zone on Thursday (November 5, 2026) ahead of the Diwali and Chhath festival rush.
The day-long operation, carried out across the Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded divisions, targeted ticketless and irregular travel in passenger and express trains. The Railway officials registered 11,150 cases of ticketless or improper travel and recovered penalties from the offenders.
According to SCR, the revenue generated during the drive is the highest single-day ticket-checking collection since the bifurcation of the zone in June 2026. The achievement is particularly significant considering that the zone’s average daily ticket checking revenue stands at ₹33.44 lakh from around 4,373 cases.
Secunderabad division made the largest contribution, accounting for ₹1.02 crore of the total revenue collected during the special drive. The campaign was undertaken following instructions from Principal Chief Commercial Manager Ity Pandey to ensure smooth travel during the festive season and to prevent inconvenience to genuine passengers caused by unauthorised occupancy of coaches.
SCR officials said the drive aimed not only to curb ticketless travel in reserved and unreserved coaches but also to create awareness among passengers about the importance of travelling with valid tickets and proper travel authority.
A notable feature of the operation was the participation of 117 women ticket checking staff, who worked alongside their male counterparts to carry out effective inspections across the zone. SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava congratulated the Commercial Department and ticket checking staff for achieving the milestone.
