Pokémon celebrates 30th anniversary in BKK - Bangkok Post
The Pokémon Company has officially announced a massive nationwide celebration in Thailand to mark three decades of global gaming history, turning Bangkok into an extraordinary cultural hub. Partnering with Central Pattana, the grand festivities kick off with the opening of Pokémon Center Bangkok at CentralWorld on Dec 1, establishing the largest official retail store outside of Japan.
The Pokémon RUN 30 takes place from Jan 9-10, inviting runners to choose a starter partner and journey through themed checkpoints featuring Gym Battles, wild encounters and Pokédex search challenges. Participants receive an exclusive Runner's Kit featuring a Uniqlo-sponsored event T-shirt, while visitors can freely explore a public Festival Zone complete with a historical Time Tunnel and character Meet & Greet sessions.

To commemorate 30 years since the original Pokémon games, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green video games launched in Japan in 1996 for the Game Boy platform, The Pokémon Company is launching PokéXciting!, a large-scale party-style celebration across five cities in Asia including Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Singapore, Manila and Bangkok, bringing together entertainment, nostalgia and interactive experiences across generations, making it one of the most ambitious Pokémon celebrations to date.
In Thailand, the celebration escalates with the arrival of PokéXciting! on Feb 13 and 14, transforming CentralWorld into a vibrant global party destination. This vibrant festival features energetic parades, stage shows and the special debut of the orange-themed regional PokéXciting! Pikachu. Concurrently, Pokémon GO players can participate in regional in-game events, Timed Research and a cross-region GO Stamp Rally at specific PokéStops. Commuters can also experience themed decorations and brand rallies across Bangkok's MRT transit network starting in early January, uniting the entire city in a shared celebration of pop culture.
From Feb 13-14, Pokémon GO Trainers will also be able to enjoy an in-game event where they can catch Bangkok's "PokéXciting! Pikachu (Orange)", as well as enjoy other special content such as Timed Research and GO Stamp Rally in Pokémon GO.
