PH holds nationwide earthquake drill for Q4 2026 - GMA Network
The Philippines on Thursday conducted its Fourth Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) featuring a magnitude 8.5 earthquake and tsunami scenario.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) led the exercise in the designated main pilot area, Santa Ana, Cagayan, in collaboration with various government agencies, uniformed services, and local government units.
According to the OCD, the full-scale simulation featured an earthquake triggered by movement along the East Luzon Trough, with its hypothetical epicenter located 180 kilometers southeast of Santa Ana.
The exercise also included a tsunami scenario to test the government's preparedness and response capabilities in the event of a major earthquake.
The drill aimed to assess and strengthen the implementation of the government's Earthquake and Tsunami Contingency Plan, as well as the Regional Disaster Response Plan (RDRP) of the Cagayan Valley Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC).—AOL, GMA News
