Penguins dress for Halloween in Matsue, western Japan | NHK WORLD-JAPAN News - NHKニュース
Penguins in Halloween costumes are delighting visitors at a theme park in the western Japanese city of Matsue in Shimane Prefecture.
Matsue Vogel Park, which features flowers and birds, is holding an event in which its Cape penguins stroll around the facility dressed in Halloween costumes handmade by its staff.
Six penguins, each about 60 centimeters tall, waddled through the greenhouse wearing costumes featuring pumpkin and bat designs.
Visitors walked beside them and snapped photos.
A woman in her 30s who came with her family said the way the penguins walked was adorable, and she loved the seasonal costumes.
Park official Fujihara Shun said he hopes the sight of the waddling penguins will cheer people up.
The event will run through Halloween on October 31.
