Muang Pattaya 3 School in Bang Lamung district of Chon Buri province issued an urgent directive because of a threat that posed danger to students and school personnel, read the announcement, signed by director Nutchapha Wanghoonklang.

All activities planned over the two days will be cancelled and the school will be off-limits for all people, it added.

The FM91 Traffic Police radio network said a shooting threat had been sent to a Line group chat of Mathayom 1 (Grade 7) students, forcing the school to take precautions.

Kritsana Boonsawad, the Pattaya deputy mayor in charge of education, said the disturbing message belonged to a Mathayom 1 student who had been absent for three days, according to Thairath Online.

Police have been called in after the teachers found the message on the Line app.

The school’s Facebook account later said all students had returned home and the situation was under control. Police are searching for the person who posted the message, it added.

The incident came just two days after an angry father fired gunshots into the air at a school in Nakhon Ratchasima, after complaining that his child could still not read or do basic maths.
