Panthers sign former Cowboys CB on Friday - Panthers Wire
On a day headlined by a big-time subtraction, the Panthers made an addition to their practice squad.
As announced on Friday afternoon, the team has signed cornerback Caelen Carson.
Carson, a Waldorf, Md. native and Wake Forest University product, entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys back in 2024. He's gone on to make eight starts over 17 regular-season games since—totaling 45 combined tackles and six passes defensed.
The Panthers' cornerback room has experienced hit after hit, beginning with the injuries to starters Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson in Week 3. Carolina also lost both of their backups yesterday—as they placed Akayleb Evans on injured reserve and then saw rookie Will Lee III go down with a hamstring injury in the 27-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Practice squad member Marco Wilson was elevated and put into the starting lineup for last night's contest. Meanwhile, 2024 fifth-round pick Chau Smith-Wade took over in Lee's stead.
