The NSC spokesperson explained that the meeting to handle the situation was merely a preparedness exercise, emphasizing that Thailand has no signs of facing a crisis and is not a direct target of cyberattacks, although vigilance is required. He confirmed that all units already have specialized response plans in place.

At 12:30 p.m. on 4 Nov 2026 GMT+7, at the Government House, Mr. Pitchayadech Osathanon, spokesperson for the National Security Council (NSC), announced the results of a meeting with government agencies and academic sectors to consider response plans for potential security problems in the Middle East. The meeting was chaired by General Chaiphruek Duangpraphat, NSC Secretary-General. The NSC invited relevant agencies and academics to discuss and exchange views on Thailand's preparedness to handle possible security situations. The Middle East conflict was one example discussed, along with other international regional situations that might impact Thailand.

Mr. Pitchayadech stated that this meeting is part of the government's routine work to prepare and review management approaches under the national preparedness plan, ensuring involved agencies understand and can coordinate effectively. The key points covered were: 1. Monitoring and assessing situations potentially impacting Thailand, with joint consideration of international security issues and their economic, energy, public safety, cyber security, and critical infrastructure implications. The NSC coordinated and integrated information to ensure comprehensive and consistent situational assessment and response planning.

Mr. Pitchayadech said the meeting assessed impacts if the situation escalated to the highest level, dividing effects into direct and indirect. Direct impacts mainly concern the safety of Thai workers and citizens living or working in Middle Eastern countries, which the government prioritizes first. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with security agencies especially the military, has prepared emergency response plans including evacuation and assistance for Thais in risky areas to act promptly if the situation worsens. Additionally, the issue of Thai commercial shipping routes in the Middle East, which might be affected by the conflict, requires close monitoring and coordination to safeguard crew safety and Thailand’s maritime interests.

Mr. Pitchayadech noted indirect impacts, especially economic and energy effects, as the conflict might drive up global energy prices, creating a cascading impact on transportation and production costs, consumer goods prices, and agricultural product costs. This could affect citizens' living expenses and the overall national economy. Regarding cyber security risks, vigilance remains necessary, although there is currently no indication Thailand is a direct target. Relevant agencies have prepared to respond to potential threats.

The NSC spokesperson said, 2. Preparedness and coordination among agencies: Thailand already has a national preparedness plan and a crisis management plan (2023–2027), as well as specialized response plans for various agencies, defining roles and procedures at each level. This meeting provided an opportunity to review and exchange views on operational approaches to clarify coordination among agencies and ensure effective joint action. The meeting emphasized preparedness at all levels, including monitoring and assessment, coordination at central and local levels, resource and personnel readiness, and situation management plus citizen care if incidents occur.

The NSC spokesperson added, 3. Communication and public understanding: This was a key focus of the meeting and the NSC, given the rapid dissemination of information from various sources that may contain differing facts and opinions. Therefore, the NSC will coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure systematic communication so the public receives accurate, clear, and timely information and understands government operational approaches.

The NSC spokesperson emphasized that this meeting was a government preparedness exercise within existing plans and mechanisms. It was not a warning or indication that Thailand is about to face a crisis. Rather, it ensures that relevant agencies have appropriate strategies and mechanisms to manage situations if necessary. The NSC will incorporate feedback from this meeting to develop suitable plans and procedures. The public is urged to follow information from credible sources. If necessary, responsible agencies will clearly communicate essential information or advice. Ultimately, the public should be confident that the government and related agencies prioritize comprehensive national preparedness.
