Nobody Wants This actor Tovah Feldshuh is shutting down speculation about tension on the show over Adam Brody’s statement that he supports “a free Palestine.”

Rumors about bad blood on the set of the hit Netflix rom-com series have swirled since Brody, 46, voiced support for Palestine and called Israel’s actions in Gaza a genocide, which show creator Erin Foster later disagreed with publicly.

However, 77-year-old Feldshuh — who plays Brody’s mother, Bina Roklov, on the show — denied claims of a behind-the-scenes feud in a recent post on Threads.

“Tensions are NOT RISING,” the actor wrote. “Profound differences of opinion are. Please do not conflate the two — And none of it will be brought to the set.”

She added: “I deeply enjoy filming [Nobody Wants This] and hope we are chosen to go on for a fourth season.”

In the Netflix series, which first premiered in September 2024, Brody plays a rabbi who falls in love with a non-Jewish woman played by Kristen Bell. The show is loosely based on creator Erin Foster’s experiences of converting to Judaism after meeting her husband.

While promoting the show’s third season, Brody told GQ in September: “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine.”

“It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago. I’m hopeful that another administration can really do some good and correct some of these policies that are helping that situation be as awful as it is,” he said.

The comments sparked pushback from some of his colleagues, including Feldshuh. She told the New York Post at the time, “To accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild. It’s right out of Hitler’s playbook. You take the victim and you make the victim the perpetrator.”

Last month, Foster finally spoke out on Brody’s remarks and said that while she disagrees with his view, “everyone is entitled to a different opinion.”

“You know, it’s complicated. I think our work environment, our set, is very similar to dinner tables around the world, where people are having debate and discussion and disagreeing,” she said on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. “And while I love Adam, I also disagree with him, and that’s okay.”

She went on to describe her show as a “love letter to Judaism.”

“That is why I made this show. It’s because of how beautiful of an experience I’ve had becoming Jewish and being a Jewish person, and sitting here right now at this time in the world where there is almost zero positive representation of Jewish people,” she said. “I think it’s so important to have that, and that is what this show is intended to be.”

She added: “Everyone is entitled to a different opinion than me. I can just tell you what I created this show for and what the intention of the show is.”
