Meghan Markle's father Thomas arrested - The News International
Meghan Markle’s father Thomas Markle has been arrested by the FBI amid a deepening investigation into child abuse images.
Thomas was arrested after his US care home was raided by the FBI on Friday.
According to a report by the Sun, Thomas Markle was cuffed before being led into the emergency vehicle.
Royal expert Roya Nikkhah also took to X, formerly Twitter handle and tweeted “BREAKING - The Duchess of Sussex’s father, Thomas Markle, has been arrested by the FBI at his care home in Florida, on suspicion of possessing child abuse material.”
“Sources close to Meghan say she is not commenting again “at this time.”
Meghan recently said she was “deeply distressed” by allegations that a collection of child abuse images had been found at her father’s former home.
She also revealed that a letter containing “troubling allegations” about him had been sent to London police in 2018.
Meghan had said, "I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed.”
"I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them.”
"I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families," the statement continued.
