The High Court of Karnataka has granted six days of day-long temporary bail to Pradosh S. Rao, an accused-turned-approver in the Renukaswamy murder case involving Kannada actor Darshan, to perform the first death anniversary rituals of his father.
Justice Anant Ramanath Hegde passed the order permitting Pradosh to be brought from prison to his house at around 8 a.m. every day from November 7 to November 12 to perform the rituals under the escort of City Armed Reserve (CAR) police. He will be taken back to prison by 6 p.m. each day.
Though Darshan’s counsel opposed Pradosh’s plea seeking 20 days’ bail, he agreed to the court’s suggestion of granting temporary bail from morning to evening for six days to perform the traditional rituals related to his father’s death anniversary.
Meanwhile, the court barred Pradosh from contacting any police officer, witnesses and their close relatives, or any person connected to the case during this period outside the prison. The court also directed him to submit a list of family members and priests attending the ceremony to the trial court, prison authorities and the CAR police.
The court had granted temporary bail to Pradosh, the only son of his parents, when his father died last year.
