Julapan Affirms Thaksins Right to Request Amnesty, Denies Any Deal with Bhumjaithai Party - Thairath English
Julapan Amornwiwat declared it is Thaksin Shinawatra's right to request amnesty and confirmed there is no bargaining deal with the Bhumjaithai Party. He expressed confidence that Pheu Thai Party ministers are performing well and sees no need to reshuffle cabinet seats.
On 1 Nov 2026, Julapan Amornwiwat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party, addressed rumors that Pheu Thai was negotiating with the Bhumjaithai Party to secure amnesty for Thaksin Shinawatra. He firmly denied any secret or overt deals, emphasizing that the agreement between Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai is to govern jointly and serve the people fully. He expressed no concerns and said no further agreements are necessary, as both parties are already working together without need for any deal.
:" Regarding the Peaceful Resolution Act, Julapan explained that those affected by political protests or coups can exercise their rights individually. Thaksin is one who has chosen to pursue legal channels. Whether his case fits within the Act depends on the committee established to evaluate it.
Julapan stated this is a legal matter that cannot be distorted. The government itself has no role in deciding matters related to the Peaceful Resolution Act.
When asked if the news carried any hidden meaning, Julapan said he has never wavered on this issue, as it was never discussed. His talks with the prime minister focus solely on work matters. He reaffirmed the clear relationship between the two parties. The no-confidence debate scheduled for early December has been jointly discussed by Pheu Thai and the government. He believes the cabinet can respond effectively and expects voting outcomes to be predictable without need for further explanation. He confirmed the government’s stability is strong and will continue working for the people.
Regarding rumors about bringing the Kla Party into the government, Julapan said this is the sole prerogative of the prime minister. As a coalition partner, Pheu Thai will not interfere. Concerning the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, there are no issues as the minister is performing well. Any cabinet restructuring is the prime minister’s decision. So far, there are no signals of changes, and no need to move the agriculture minister or other Pheu Thai seats. Currently, the Ministry of Labor is driving human development; to raise incomes, labor productivity must increase, aiming to enhance the country's competitiveness.
