Investigators recover cockpit voice recorder of Ontario air ambulance in fatal crash off Massachusetts - CBC

In an update Monday, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada also said it had recovered the cockpit.

The air ambulance left Bermuda on Oct. 3 with four Canadians and two Bermudians.

The TSB said the cockpit and recorder will be moved to the board's engineering laboratory in Ottawa "for further examination."

It said it will provide further updates as the investigation continues and "more information becomes available."

The air ambulance went down after the crew reported electrical difficulties while approaching Boston.

It descended rapidly and contact with air traffic control was lost south of Nantucket, the agency said.

Last month, Liam MacDonald, media relations co-ordinator for the TSB, said the aircraft's cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder, known colloquially as the black box, were "a key element to determining what happened." 

The black box wasn't mentioned at Monday's update.

Philip Gregory Childerhose, Thomas Henry Farquhar, Sarah Jane Paton and Jolene Beth Weir, who all had been living in southern Ontario, were the crew members on the flight, employed by Ontario-based Latitude Air Ambulance.

Marilyn Lavonne Bean, 66, and her son, Sergio Wayne Lottimore, 41, were the passengers.
