International Garden Expo underway in Thailand - NHKニュース
A major International Horticultural Exposition is underway in northeastern Thailand.
The theme of the Udon Thani expo is "Diversity of Life Connecting People, Water and Plants for Sustainable Living." It features extensive indoor and outdoor pavilions spread across 165 hectares.
One male visitor said, "The scale is enormous and magnificent. I've never visited a garden space this large before."
There are over 30 international gardens. The Japanese one is a highlight, built by Japanese firms and Thai artisans. Its white sand collects rainwater to create a stunning mirror effect.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the venue on Monday, inviting international visitors to join him. He called the expo a great opportunity to cooperate on global challenges, such as climate change and resource management.
An even larger horticultural expo will open in Yokohama, Japan, next March. Anticipation is running high among the visitors in Thailand, including one bonsai fan who is eager to see some Japanese gardens.
The expo in Thailand runs until March next year.
