IND vs PAK match for ODI World Cup 2027 gets 84 lakh requests for 34,000 seats
The India vs Pakistan clash at the 2027 ODI World Cup has received a staggering 84 lakh ticket requests, despite the match being scheduled at a stadium with a capacity of just 34,000. The highly anticipated contest, which will be played at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on October 10, has emerged as one of the most sought-after fixtures of the tournament.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the India-Pakistan match has received 8,397,294 ticket requests as part of the ongoing ticket ballot. The demand is significantly higher than the number of spectators the Johannesburg venue can accommodate, underlining the massive interest surrounding cricket's biggest rivalry. The enormous demand for the India-Pakistan clash comes amid an unprecedented response to the tournament's ticket ballot. The ICC has received more than 120 million ticket requests from fans across 193 countries, with 2.8 million unique fans registering their interest in attending the competition.
The 2027 edition of the ODI World Cup will return to African soil for the first time in 24 years. South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will jointly host the tournament, which will feature 14 teams competing across 57 matches at 12 venues.
South Africa has generated more than 105 million ticket requests across 41 matches at eight venues, with fixtures involving the hosts accounting for nearly 26 million requests.
The ticket ballot will remain open until November 21, 2026. Fans can register their interest through the ICC's official ticketing website, with successful applicants selected through a randomised ballot process for fixtures where demand exceeds the available allocation.- Ends
