To improve the quality of Pre-University (PU) education, the Department of School Education has decided to prepare the question papers for the I PU annual examinations at the State level from the current academic year.
The question papers will be prepared by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board. However, the examinations will be conducted under the supervision of the Department of School Education (Pre-University). The State government issued an order to this effect on Saturday.
A uniform examination timetable applicable to all PU colleges across the State will be prepared for the conduct of these examinations. On the day of the examination, the question papers will be transmitted to the colleges in a digital format.
Only the practical examinations for I PU will be conducted according to a schedule prepared at the district level. Although the question papers will be prepared at the State level, the evaluation process will continue to take place at the college level. The results will be published only after they have been reviewed and approved by the respective Deputy Director Pre-University of the district.
The order stated that it would also pave the way for improving the pass percentage in the II PU.
