The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency on Monday demolished structures and compound walls allegedly encroaching upon the Full Tank Level (FTL) of Fox Sagar lake as part of its efforts to restore the water body.
The agency took serious note of the construction of a bund stretching nearly half a kilometre within the lake’s FTL limits. A compound wall built along the bund to demarcate a farmhouse property was demolished, along with iron fencing erected at some locations.
On the other side of the lake, HYDRAA demolished the compound wall of a farmhouse belonging to family members of former Minister Ch. Malla Reddy at Dulapally village. The wall had been constructed after filling portions of the FTL and buffer zones with earth, and a gate had also been installed.
The encroachment was identified in survey number 124, where the lake’s FTL extends into the property. HYDRAA said the compound wall was removed as it fell within the notified FTL limits. Nearly 15 acres of land belonging to Mallareddy’s family were found to have been enclosed within the lake’s FTL.
The agency also removed a compound wall spread over nearly 20 acres within the FTL limits in survey numbers 41 and 42 of Jeedimetla.
