Hudson answers fans' question: Is there a chance to see Thailand beat Japan in this lifetime?
On 3 Nov 2026 GMT+7, following the match, Anthony Hudson, Thailand's national team coach, gave an interview answering various questions on the "Clear Rim Sen" program on Thairath Sport, ahead of the squad announcement for the 2026 King's Cup in Sisaket Province.
At one point, Thai fans asked whether Thailand has any chance of beating Japan in this lifetime, and how?
Hudson responded, "Of course, 100 percent. With the quality we have, we can definitely beat them 100 percent."
"Honestly, that message is more for the players because the coach really believes in this group. We have quality in technique and abilities. We have players with strong character and high passion who play for the nation. But the only chance we have to get results against big teams is to be fitter."
"As I said, Thailand plays well for about 60 minutes, but if we keep being inconsistent and donβt maintain standards until the full 90 minutes, itβs impossible. Because in the last ten minutes, the opponents run more than we do."
"Watching Indonesiaβs games, I saw many situations with substitutions, some players cramping, and so on. Of course, the coach knows their potential wellβthey have quality, heart, and passion. But if we canβt run until the end of 90 minutes, itβs very hard to consistently do that. If I have to answer the question, yes, we can do it."
