The KIMS Saveera Hospital inaugurated its expanded 500-bed facility, specialised medical blocks, and a major assistive technology initiative, in Anantapur on Sunday. Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav and Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav were the chief guests at the inaugural function.
On the occasion, 200 DRIISTI AI-powered smart glasses were distributed to visually-impaired individuals from Anantapur district. Developed through KIMS CSR funds by the KIMS Foundation and Research Centre (KFRC) in collaboration with M/s Achala Health Services, the assistive devices featured obstacle detection, text-to-speech, navigation assistance, and Indian-language support to empower beneficiaries with greater daily independence.
Commending the initiative, Mr. Satya Kumar Yadav said, “Strengthening healthcare infrastructure across Rayalaseema is a top priority for our government. The expansion of KIMS Saveera Hospital into a 500-bed tertiary care centre, equipped with advanced radiation, surgical, and diagnostic oncology facilities, brings super-specialised medical care directly to the people of Anantapur.”
Highlighting the societal impact, Mr. Keshav said that investing in high-quality healthcare infrastructure directly uplifts the social and economic well-being of districts. “Beyond expanding bed capacity and specialised clinical units, KIMS Saveera’s distribution of 200 AI-powered smart glasses demonstrates how technology and healthcare can come together for true social inclusion.”
Speaking on the milestone, Dr. B. Bhaskar Rao, chairman and managing Director, KIMS Group of Hospitals, said, “At KIMS, our vision has always been to ensure that world-class healthcare is accessible to every individual, right in their hometown. With the expansion of KIMS Saveera Hospital to a 500-bed facility and the launch of our advanced Oncology and Mother and Child blocks, we are bringing medical infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, and expert care to Anantapur.”
He said that over 90 per cent of treatments were provided under the Aarogyasri scheme, ensuring that top-quality healthcare reaches every section of society without financial burden.
As part of the enhanced infrastructure, the hospital unveiled a state-of-the-art Oncology block designed to offer comprehensive cancer care, including Medical, Radiation, and Surgical Oncology, Haematology, and Bone Marrow Transplantation.
Dr. B. Abhinay, CEO of KIMS Group of Hospitals, and B. Adwik, director and CEO of KIMS Hospitals, Andhra Pradesh, and others were also present.
