Former Trump official reveals president’s furious response to last midterm defeat as he issues stark warning - The Independent

A former Trump administration official has revealed how furious the president was when he lost congressional seats during the midterm elections in 2018.

Miles Taylor, who served as an appointed official at the US Department of Homeland Security during Trump’s first term in office, was also the first former Trump administration official to endorse Joe Biden.

Speaking to BBC Newsnight on Tuesday, he said: “In 2018 he was a mess, and I mean that. The president was irascible behind the scenes. I was with him the day after the vote. He was angry, he was throwing around grievances.”

Taylor warned: “If Donald Trump loses. expect dramatic action.

Taylor’s comments come as the Democrats are projected to take back control of both the House and the Senate after a series of major wins in the 2026 midterms, dubbed a “Blue Tsunami”.
