The Employeesβ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) celebrated its 74th Foundation Day on Sunday (November 1, 2026). Inaugurating an event on the day, Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya asked EPFO employees to focus on worker-centric innovations across domains, adapting and building resilience, and evolving processes in tandem with changing times.
Mr. Mandaviya said the trust reposed in the organisation was reflected in the βΉ32 lakh crore corpus accumulated through contributions from more than eight crore members, made possible by the dedication, hard work and commitment of the EPFO workforce. He added that social security must be driven by human sensitivity and every concern and grievance of workers must be addressed with compassion and empathy.
Union Labour Secretary Chandra Bhushan Kumar said the EPFO laid the foundation of and strengthened Indiaβs social security framework, creating a model worth emulating for coming generations. βSocial protection and labour reforms must reach not just the organised sector, but unorganised sector workers at the last mile,β he said, adding that the EPFO had set an example of how to achieve this through institutionalised processes. Central Provident Fund Commissioner Ramesh Krishnamurthi acknowledged the contribution of officers and employees across the country, and said there was a need to make the EPFO more accessible, reliable and humane.
