Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer stepped up efforts in 2026 to expand its presence in India, one of the fastest-growing aviation markets. The company is in talks with Indian aviation companies to market aircraft in the civilian and military segments.

In the commercial segment, Embraer signed a memorandum of understanding with Adani Defence & Aerospace to assemble the E175 in the country. "The E175 is opening up new markets, and this could represent a very significant opportunity," says the manufacturer's vice president, Rodrigo Silva e Souza.

In the military segment, meanwhile, the company and the Mahindra Group have been planning an industrial ecosystem since October to manufacture the C-390 Millennium transport aircraft in the country, targeting the Indian Air Force's MTA program.

Embraer also signed an agreement to acquire a 51% stake in NAL, founded in July 2026, which reported no revenue in the fiscal year ended in March. The city of Nagpur was identified as a possible site for a final assembly line, but the proposal depends on the Indian government formally committing to purchase the C-390 Millennium.
