The campaign for the urban local body elections has drawn to a close, with political parties and their candidates wrapping up their hectic canvassing on Friday evening.
The randomisation of police personnel drafted for poll duty was completed in the presence of election general observer M. Varaprasad and Joint Collector R. Govinda Rao, who announced it.
A control room has been established at the Tirupati Collectorate to monitor developments on a real-time basis and also receive complaints from candidates and the public.
The Tirupati District Collector, S. Venkateswar, said any troublesome incident or erratic behaviour by candidates, their followers, or election staff on duty can be reported to the control room at 0877-2236007.
Meanwhile, special centres have been established to cast postal ballot votes for the election staff for the MPTC/ZPTC elections across the district.
The MPDO’s offices in the respective mandals will serve as the facilitation centres, where the staff drafted for poll duty as polling officers and assistant polling officers can cast their vote on Nov 2 from 10 am to 5 pm, a release said.
