Researchers from the University of Cambridge conducted computer simulations to examine the role of comets in life's origins. The study found that high-speed impacts likely destroyed important chemicals, such as hydrogen cyanide. Only a small percentage of simulations indicated successful delivery of these compounds by comets. Additionally, most impacts during early Earth history could not deliver intact organic molecules.
