The Deputy Government Spokesperson invited people to explore the community lifestyle and local culture of Udon Thani Province, highlighting the Non Kok Mi Khid woven fabric made into outfits for ministers attending the mobile cabinet meeting. The World Horticultural Expo is expected to stimulate the economy by over 20 billion baht.
On 1 Nov 2026 at Non Kok village, Nong Na Kham Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province, Captain Phatdarasmit Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, spoke about tourism in Udon Thani. She said the province is famous for Mi Khid fabric, natural attractions such as the Red Lotus Sea, historic sites like Ban Chiang, numerous restaurants, and rich community lifestyles and culture, promising an excellent experience.
Udon Thani will also host two major events: the World Horticultural Expo and the mobile cabinet meeting. The Expo runs from 1 November 2026 to 14 March 2027, lasting 134 days. It will feature a variety of trees, 32 international gardens, and six gardens from government and private sectors. Additionally, there will be over one million flowering and ornamental plants displayed in rotation.
The Deputy Government Spokesperson said all these elements reflect diversity in life, waterways, human relationships, and plants, as well as sustainable living. She invited everyone to visit Udon Thani, exchange experiences, and be part of stimulating the community economy. The World Horticultural Expo is expected to boost the economy by more than 20 billion baht, attract over 3.6 million tourists, and feature more than 200 arts and cultural performances over 134 days.
Captain Phatdarasmit also reminded visitors that Mi Khid fabric, a provincial symbol with two patterns—the Ban Chiang jar and lotus flower—will be worn during the mobile cabinet meeting to reflect cultural values and local wisdom. She encouraged people to follow the upcoming mobile cabinet meeting in Udon Thani, which will focus on key issues such as agriculture, food, and drug suppression.
Meanwhile, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatana, Deputy Government Spokesperson, stated that beyond tourism, Udon Thani is an economic hub with a value of 130 billion baht. The province is known for processing agricultural products and excellent services. For example, Non Kok Subdistrict serves as a textile learning center that develops local wisdom into economic value. Economic benefits are not only from souvenirs but also from channeling income directly to villagers and communities. Being a good host is measured not by visitor numbers but by how much income reaches the local people.
Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Sangjan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, said the government, through the Ministry of Transport, has upgraded public transport services from the airport, railway station, and key city points. Forty-five shuttle buses will run about 50 trips daily from 07:00 to 20:00 to ensure visitors to the World Horticultural Expo have convenient and safe transportation.
