The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc proposed “public impeachment” of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has been postponed to October 31 due to unfavourable weather conditions in New Delhi, sources said on Friday (October 30).
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is expected to address the media.
The INDIA bloc said its planned “public impeachment” over alleged electoral manipulation through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will avoid imagery that could be seen as mocking Parliament as an institution.
The Congress president’s official residence was decided as the venue after the Opposition bloc’s attempts to organise the event at the Ashok Hotel and Ramlila Maidan allegedly ran into hurdles over permissions.
The event has now been moved to October 31.
INDIA bloc schedules a public impeachment of CEC Gyanesh Kumar at Kharge’s residence on Oct 30 ahead of a Nov 1 rally.
