‘Cat’ Matlala returns to court for ID, bank fraud case - EWN
Alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala returns to court on Thursday for an identity document (ID) and bank fraud case.
Matlala is accused of using an ID from Eswatini and falsified bank statements to secure a high-end property lease in Waterkloof.
He abandoned his bail application in this case, with his legal team choosing to first address his separate High Court matter.
Matlala abandoned bail after the State opposed his release.
His wife, Tsakane, and co-accused Given Makofane and Claudette Masethe have each been granted R20,000 bail.
The Gauteng Political Killings Task Team arrested them in connection with the alleged fraudulent lease agreement.
Matlala is also facing separate attempted murder charges in the Johannesburg High Court.
