Avila fires Rosario Central past Sarmiento-Xinhua - 新华网

BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Gaston Avila scored in each half as Rosario Central recovered from a goal down to clinch a 2-1 away win over nine-man Sarmiento in Zona A of Argentina's Clausura tournament on Friday.

Avila cancelled out Manuel Garcia's opener and the hosts suffered another blow when Renzo Orihuela was shown a red card in the 67th minute.

Santiago Salle was also dismissed for a reckless challenge in the first minute of stoppage time before Avila gave his side the lead with an angled finish after combining with Ignacio Ovando.

The result leaves Rosario Central with 31 points, three ahead of second-placed Argentinos Juniors, while Sarmiento is seventh, 10 points off the pace.

"The club has been doing things right for a long time," Avila said after the match. "Now we're getting rewarded for all of that hard work, and we're showing that you win by what you do on the pitch."

In other Argentine top-flight matches on Friday, Racing won 2-1 at home to Aldosivi, Tigre prevailed 2-0 at Huracan and Gimnasia La Plata edged to a 2-1 victory at Estudiantes RC. ■
