Alex Eala eyes Pan Pacific Open semifinal berth in rematch vs. Diana Shnaider - GMA Network

Alexandra “Alex” Eala is eyeing a spot in the semifinals of the Pan Pacific Open when she takes on Diana Shnaider in the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 tournament on Friday afternoon.

The Eala-Shnaider clash will serve as a rematch for the two players, who met just last week at the Ningbo Open. In that match, Shnaider defeated Eala, 7-5, 6-4.

Prior to this, Eala defeated Talia Gibson, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0, in the Round of 16 to secure her first quarterfinal appearance of this year’s Asian swing.

Shnaider, meanwhile, booked her spot in the last eight with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 victory over Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
