All arrangements have been made for the elections to Guntur Municipal Corporation and Tenali Municipality scheduled for November 1, District Collector C.M. Saikanth Varma said on Friday, appealing to voters to exercise their franchise freely and fearlessly.

Addressing the media, the Collector said 596 polling stations had been set up in Guntur, with 4,514 polling personnel, while Tenali would have 185 polling stations staffed by 1,185 personnel. The polling materials would be distributed on October 31.

Elections would be held for 127 of the 128 wards, as one ward in Tenali had been unanimously elected. Guntur has 6,18,714 voters and Tenali 1,57,089, taking the combined electorate to 7,75,803.

Counting of votes would take place at Acharya Nagarjuna University for Guntur and VSR College for Tenali on November 3.

Around 1,200 police personnel would be deployed to ensure peaceful polling. Web cameras would monitor polling in sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations, while flying squads and surveillance teams would oversee election-related activities.

Meanwhile, MPTC and ZPTC elections have been rescheduled to November 5, with counting on November 7. The district has 200 MPTC and 13 ZPTC seats. Seven MPTC seats have been elected unanimously. Postal ballot facilitation centres would function across all mandals on October 30 and 31 for election personnel, the Collector said.
